I was listening to The Beach Boys and thinking about Gidget when I made California Surfer Girl. I had fabric that said “exercising” and baseball caps that said “run,” so I had to make Everyday Exercising. It was the Year of the Rabbit, and a friend was telling me about the rabbits she sees on her morning hikes on California Winter Weekends. I had some fabric with a hula hoop on it, so what else could I do but make The Evening Catcall?
